Instructions for assembling your converter rail set.
Your package should contain the following:
2 Hook-on Rails
1 Center Support
1 Hardware Package Containing:
1 Adjustable Center Support Leg
1 Threaded Plastic Insert for Center Support
4 "L-Shaped" Brackets
6 Bolts
6 Lock Washers
6 Nuts
Step 1. Hook the 2 Hook-on Rails into your headboard and footboard. These are not normal bed rails, and when hooked on properly, the bed rails may look upside down to you. This actually means that they are hooked on properly. Each of the bed rails should look like an upside down "L."
Step 2. Insert the Threaded Plastic Insert into the hole at the bottom of the center support leg. You may find it easier to use a hammer or a mallet to get this piece firmly inserted into the center support leg.
Step 3. Screw in the Adjustable Center Support Leg- You will adjust the height of it later.
Step 4. Attach the Center Support to the Hook-on Rails. The Center Support attaches in the center of the rails- there are three holes located in the center of the Hook-on Rails for adjustability. The Center Support attaches to the bed rails on the underside of the bed rail lip. You should insert the bolts in from the top of the bed rail. (Later, when you put your box spring on, the box spring should rest on the rounded head of the bolt.) After you insert the bolts, secure both sides of the Center Support with a washer and a nut.
Step 5. Adjust the height of the Center Support Leg, so that it will provide support for the center of your mattress. The leg should touch the floor.
Step 6. Loosely attach each of the four "L-Shaped" Brackets to the Hook-on Rails, using the remaining bolts, washers, and nuts. There are two holes on each rail for the attachment of the brackets, one near the headboard and one near the footboard. You should insert the bolts in from the top of the bed rail. (Later, when you put your box spring on, the box spring should rest on the rounded head of the bolt.) After you insert the bolts, loosely secure each bracket with a washer and a nut. DO NOT TIGHTEN THE BOLTS AT THIS POINT.
Step 7. Adjust the brackets out as far as possible from the center or your bed.
Step 8. Place your box spring on your new frame.
Step 9. Adjust each of the "L-Shaped" Brackets, so that they snugly hold your box spring.
Step 10. Tighten the bolts securely.
